I have just finished transferring my old drives to my brand-new IBM PC. The operation was a complete success, but I now have an interesting problem. One of my old drives was (is) a 40-tk, single-sided drive rated for double density. The PC is quite happy with it. However, the other drive is an 80-tk double-sided double-density one... and therein lies the problem. I can use the first 40 tracks on the diskette, but MSDOS (1.0, 1.1 or 2.0) does not know about drives with more than 40 tracks. I'm running 2.0, and ideally would like a simple patch (or even better, an installable driver) for the 80 track drive. Any ideas, suggestions, or advice? In particular, is anyone at Microsoft listening? I suppose I could start disassembling existing drivers and suchlike, but that is *tedious* and I'd like to spend my time more creatively. Thanks in advance for any info. --Bernie Roehl ...decvax!watmath!watarts!bernie
