I have a rather urgent need to hear of anyone that has seen or used a VAX C cross-compiler for the 8086 that produces assembly code compatible with Microsoft's assembler for the IBM PC under PC DOS 2.0, or just general feedback about VAX {UNIX,VMS} Cross- compiler/assembler/loader/etc. for the 8086. We recently purchased the 8086 C compiler from Advanced Digital Products (ADP), and were attempting to use it with our VAX 11/780 running 4.1 BSD, an IBM PC, and a Tektronix 8550 Micro. Devel. Station. Conclusions after having 2 divisions fight with the MDS's for software development and debug is not favorable. To summarize, any info on the following (by mail) would be greatly appreciated: C Cross compiler for 8086 under 4.1 BSD or VMS (compatible with Microsoft's assembler under PC DOS) Tektronix 8550 MDS targeted to an 8086 (Anybody from Tektronix out there?) Comments, flames, pointers, trivia welcome and appreciated.
