I just picked up, assembled and ran the Info-IBMPC version of Kermit on a PC XT. So far it is behaving properly both as a VT52 and doing ASCII file transfers to a DEC 10, from the hard disk. All functions including file transfer both ways with a DEC 10, and another PC running DOS 1.1, appear to work correctly, using only the hard disk on the PC running DOS 2.0. An .EXE file from the PC was sent to the DEC 10 "sucessfully" with the warning that the file contained non-ASCII characters. The return transfer failed. I did not have time to look at the file on the 10 and see what actually got there. I have not tried binary files between two PCs. A question: has anybody heard of a modification to the IBM distributed version of the UCSD P-System which uses the hard disk on the XT? /Bob Borchers (Borchers at LLL-MFE)
