To get a librarian, purchase an MS-DOS system from another vendor who DOES supply it. Ideally, the TI or Heath/Zenith would be good choices, since you can read the disks directly. But I don't know whether or not the TI-DOS or Z-DOS distribution disks have the librarian; this is just a possibility. The way we did it was to buy a Tecmar DOS and get a friend with that machine (8 inch disks) to download to us. My Intel doc says "8086 Relocatable Object Module Formats. An Intel Technical Specification. Order Number 121748-001. Copyright 1981..." It contains the .OBJ format, but not a library format. And it's pretty messy stuff -- I'll bet that most compilers only use 10-25% of what's available in the format.
