[net.micro.pc] Compaq Problem, IBM's 8087, MICRO-TSP Statistical Software

From: Charles L. Jackson <CLJ @ MIT-MC>

Last weekend I "broke" the display unit on my Compaq by executing the
horizontal window command in VisiPlot! Compaq is aware of the bug --
and has sent a memo to field service units warning of problems running
"PIGPEN" which also blows the display.

While at ComputerLand getting repairs on the Compaq underway, I saw
some 8087's in IBM boxes -- I wasn't aware that IBM was supplying
8087's but they are now.

Anyone who is interested in statistics on the PC would be well advised
to look at MICRO-TSP available from Mcgraw Hill. It's the only
package we could find for the PC that allowed for correction to remove
serial correlation in the residuals (important if you are into time
series). The system is convenient and easy to use. It's copy
protected but they give you two copies at the time of sale.
