Eric Clapton - Providence Civic Center - 4/28/85 When I first heard Clapton was touring I'll admit I didn't know how it would turn out - friends of mine had seen him a while ago and said he played for a very short time and was not very impressive. Since I've been a fan of his for quite some time I decided to take a chance and go anyway, and I was anything but disappointed. The show last night was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen anyone do! He played for over two hours and every number was incredible. The new album is pretty good - especially live - and there was a good mix between new stuff, old stuff, and other cuts. Also, the computerized lighting design was really cool - and some of the effects were really pretty funny. Some highlights - Marcy Levy (she's been singing backup with him for years) and the other backup singer both got to do solos. Also, "Let it Rain" and "Same Old Blues" (from the new album) were particularly good. All in all, if you can, GO SEE THIS CONCERT !!!
