From: Billy <BRACKENRIDGE@USC-ISIB> I am contributing DVORAK86.ASM to the INFO-IBMPC program list. This program appeared in May 1983 BYTE. I would suggest reading the article in BYTE before using the program, but here are some brief instructions: The program must be assembled and linked. The linker will give the "Warning no stack segment" message. Ignore this. Then run EXE2BIN on DVORAK86.EXE. Rename DVORAK86.BIN to DVORAK86.COM if you wish. Run the program once and it will stay resident and return to the exec prompt. At this point the back slash key will become a second shift key and the numeric key pad minus key becomes the backslash key. Ctl-Enter invokes the Dvorak keyboard. Ctl-Esc returns to the normal keyboard. Frankly I don't think there is much of an audience for Dvorak keyboards, but this program has other winning features. It uses as much of the ROM code as possible and thus adds little overhead to the operating system. I think the program would be particularly useful to customise a key board which could make use of the special characters supported by the display. -------
