Does anybody have any knowledge about the IBM-produced APL for the PC? I have two problems I cannot understand: 1- the "edit" function simply terminates if you try to execute an error-producing statement (with F7), and fails to let you end (F3) if there is a syntax error in what you are editing. This forces you to have error-free code in order to edit it, but gives you no help producing it (because it looses all your edit session if you try to find the bad line by F7). 2- the "terminal" routine in the vm232 workspace has several problems, a) it will not talk to an autodialer modem which is full-duplex during the autodial sequence (you need to get out of apl and onto a terminal emulator to get the number dialed) b) once connected, if you specify even parity, to setup, though commands appear to be transmitted properly to the other end, received data gets the message "parity error" on every message returned from the host (does x-off after cr-lf confuse it?) Does anybody know how to contact somebody at IBM with a technical input like the above, without getting the "call your dealer" runaround? Herm Fischer (HFischer@eclb)
