From: Martin Schoffstall <schoff at BBN-UNIX> Who supports a 3270 Emulation for the PC? I am NOT interested in a combination controller/terminal combination (per recent IBM announcements) I am interested in strictly an IBM 3270 Emulation hardware/software combination which will allow me to plug into an IBM terminal controller. thanks schoff at bbnu

#R:sri-arpa:-224900:whuxlb:6400002:000:452 whuxlb!jph Jun 19 22:22:00 1983 TAC in Atlanta, Ga, produces the IRMA board (~$1200) that is a coax connection between the IBM-PC and the 3270 controller. The board provides all the functions so that the PC looks like a 327x terminal. A terminal simulator is provided (and I have tried it) so that it acts just like a 327x. Routines are also provided for those who want to access the information in the display buffer. This allows for creating some fairly complex interface software.

I need to select a 3270 emulator package, hardware and software, for the PC. I would appreciate any comments or reports of experiences that anyone has. I am particularly interested in comments on the AST package. Paul

#R:sri-arpa:-443000:whuxlb:6400011:000:256 whuxlb!Anonymous Aug 27 09:21:00 1983 We have looked at the IRMA board from TAC in Atlanta, GA and this seems like a nice package. People that I have talked to that are using this board say it is real nice. It does require that you have a 3271 controller since it is a coax attachment device.
