I tried to set up a 'hot key' for dial out from a PC through a teltone->micom_switch->ventel_modem_bank connection. For some reason, my mods to the PC-talk Basic source to insert the appropriate response strings don't seem to work. A PC-talk programmed 'function key' inserts some of the strings. Getting to the modem and dialing the number are the problems. The phone number on the function key is not recognized at all. Does anybody have any solutions or suggestions? What are the issues involved other than read/write to the COM port? borgia!decvax!cwruecmp borgia.Case@rand-relay

This is what I am trying to do: Establish a 'hot key' for dial out from an IBM PC through a teltone_line -> micom_port_selector -> ventel_modem_bank configuration. Will Prokey or PC-talk function keys insert the appropriate logon sequences into the keyboard buffer? Does each step of the tedious interacive logon procedure have to be programmed as a function key? Can I go in and alter the PC-talk Basic program to recognize the prompts and to insert the appropriate responses (hardwiring the sequence into the software)? borgia!cwruecmp!decvax borgia.Case@rand-relay
