[net.micro.pc] Screen Editors

I'm looking for some help in selecting a screen editor for my PC.
Selection criteria are (in order of importance):

1.  Works on ascii files
2.  Automatic backups
3.  Features like vi
4.  Incorporating or interfacing to a what you see is what you get
    word processor.

I've heard of XYwrite, Textra, and VEDIT.  Any comments on these?
