Someone out there asked about inexpensive ways to backup data without buying a tape drive or something similar. Corvus (maker of the Corvus Omninet and Corvus Concept computer) has an IBM PC board out that allows the user to backup data on a VCR machine. The card has an in and an out phono cable that connects to the normal in and out phono jacks on the VCR. You then backup data on a VCR tape. Corvus uses this method with their Omninet too. On the Omninet it works well and takes 33 or 37 (I am not sure) minutes to back up 10Meg. I have no experience with the card version although I have used the Omninet version. The dat is recorded 4 times with error correction codes added to insure that data is accurate. I don't know how much it costs but relative to a tape drive it s cheap if you already have access to any type VCR machine. Kevin Rappold 1LT GS 1st COSCOM <ABN.COSCOM-CE>@ISID.ARPA
