This is a repost of the solution I managed to find in reference to my problem with departitioning a hard disk on the IBM-PC/XT. One can use the HARD DISK FORMAT utility on the Advanced Diagnostics Diskette supplied by IBM. I managed to borrow the diskette from my dealer (not an IBM Product Center incidentally) and thus departition my hard disk without having to either buy the Advanced Diagnostics, and without having to buy another copy of the operating system (UCSD p-System) that created the partition in the first place.
