Media Cybernetics, makers of the HALO graphics libraries, has recently released a new product named Dr. Halo. Dr. Halo is very much like the very popular Apple MACPAINT. I think, though, that it might be better! It supports color! Not only on vanilla PCs but on the TECMAR, ORCHID, AMDEK, Hercules, Quadboad - you name it (even the scion for those of you that can afford to play with such fancy devices). I use Dr. Halo with my Tecmar and PGS monitor. I'm able to do what MACPAINT can do except in color at 640 x 400 x 16 colors!. Another very nice feature of Dr. Halo is its superb support of multiple text fonts. There are eights fonts of which the size, thickness, color, and orientation may be changed. They even have a feature for writing text into a predefined area (make text go into the area size of your choice). Its fast (for an 8088), works with KOALA, keyboard (not bad, either), Mouse Systems Mouse, Microsoft Mouse, Summa Graphics Mouse, tablets, and more. The package was written by the same gentleman that wrote the Halo graphics libraries. I highly recomment Dr. Halo for those of you that have been jealously watching your friends play on their MACS. This program is very nice. Contact Media Cybernetics for more information at: Media Cybernetics, Inc. 7042 Carroll Avenue Takoma Park, MD 20912 301-270-0240 Also - Halo supports a variety of color and black and white printers. Its only $99 and comes complete with documentation. Included is an excellent slide show program, sans instructions, for creating timed and controlled slide shows of the images you have created as well as a grabber program for grabbing images from Lotus, etc. for modification. I haven't tried this feature yet. Drop me a line if you require more info. - No - I don't work for them - I just enjoy their products and recommend them after having used them. P.S. - the IBM version of MACPAINT for their PCjr (in ROM) looks pretty good. I also received doc from Z-Soft on their PC PAINTBRUSH programs - looks fair. Good luck. Quadram will be selling Dr. Halo under their name in the very near future. Tah tah...
