The DOS 2.x documentation says you can replace the COMMAND.COM with
your own. Has anybody done this? What problems did you have?
I think I could make MS-DOS look sort of like a real operating system
(read: U**X), with slashes instead of backslashes and a command
history...

It appears that *nobody* has rewritten COMMAND.COM. I posted a query article about four weeks ago, I got only two replies, both from people who had *not* done it. How disappointing.
