Well the results are in, and the response was pretty poor. Only six people out of all you thousands out there thought it was worthwhile to respond to my request for names of favorite PC games (for the purpose of selecting a Christmas present for my brother). Oh well, since I promised to summarize here it is for what its worth. The only game that got mentioned more than once was the Microsoft Flight Simulator. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Gosh, there are a lot of great games for the pc. 747 flight simulator pacman like the arcade version catapillar " " asteriods " " othello like the board game Also available, pc-write word processor pc-file data base manager pc-talk modem software pc-vt vt102 terminal emulator a zillion directory, and file programs simple musical programs - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Digger has been the #1 game here for a couple of months. I think it's a version of the arcade game "Dig-Dug". It has great graphics and there's more strategy involved than you would think. The new version of the Microsoft Flight Simulator is also good, especially if your brother has any interest in flying. Both games are ~$40, require the color board, and run on any old DOS. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rogue for the PC might be a good idea - I've never seen it, but enjoy the Unix version. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My favorite is Infocom's DEADLINE. At last, a text adventure where the object is something other than grab the treasures and run! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > Name of Game: MasterType > > Brief Description: MasterType is an arcade-like typing tutor. After learning the position of the basic home keys, the young typist is placed in a spaceship in the center of the screen with aliens attacking from the four corners. In order to fight off the aliens, the typist must correctly type the characters displayed in the far corners of the screen. A correct response, allows the spaceship to fire upon the alien in the respective corner. The level of play progresses from typing a single character to typing conbinations of keys from all over the key- board. The end result is that your brother may learn how to type. The program is shipped on a flippy disk. One side for color, one for monochrome. > > Cost: $25 - $49 > > Where Available: Most mail order houses and Computer stores Published by Scarborough Systems, Inc 25 North Broadway Tarrytown, New York 10591 > > DOS Version Required: none - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Name of Game: Wizardry Brief Description: Very good dungeons and dragons type game.
