I am considering purchasing a PC with 256k, 2 disk drives, and a monochrome graphics board very soon. I plan to use the PC for C and Pascal software development as well as occasional word processing and data base management. Any suggestions for good C/Pascal compilers and word processing/data base software? Or good reliable graphics cards? I have heard rumors of a PCII, which will supercede the current PC. Additonally, the new PC will only be sold with IBM disk drives and cards. Thus, the purchaser will not be able to build his own (better?) PC from scratch. Has anyone heard similar rumors from reliable sources? Will the introduction of a new PC lower the old PC prices significantly? I don't really want to buy a PC and have the price fall $1000 a month later. We are receiving 6 3B2's and an AT&T PC from AT&T. How compatible is an AT&T PC with an IBM PC? I would like to interchange software between the two if at all possible.
