I have a problem with the floppy drive A on my XT (i.e., getting error messages such as "Disk error reading drive A", "Sector not found", etc.) during the past week. The only thing a bit unusual that I did -- prior to noticing this problem -- was to reset the DIP switch on the system board to indicate 128K (even though it is fully populated with 256K, and the IBM Tech-Ref manual also says that the system board must be fully populated and its switch set to indicate 256K before any more memory expansion is installed), in order to make the 512K on my Sritek/Xenix board not spilling over into the A0000+ address region which is needed for my non-IBM color graphic adapter memory. During one of the very few times when drive A worked (the problem is not totally persistent), I managed to run the IBM-supplied diagnostic program for this floppy drive and was given the following errors messages: Error 24 Bad Addr Mark Error System Unit 601 I would appreciate any info on the meaning of these messages.
