I am trying to transfer files over a 1200 baud modem between the PC and a CDC 7600. Unfortunately the CDC doesn't have KERMIT. Any suggestions? One thing that might work is a program that accepts stuff coming from the asynchronous port and puts it in a file, and another that sends a file out through the port. This wouldn't be as convenient as kermit, but would suffice. I am peshkin@cmu-cs-a@csnet-relay, and peshkin@cmucsa on bitnet via WISCVM, and peshkin@cmu-cs-a.arpa Thanks for your help.

Try getting the CDC version of Kermit from Columia University (CU20B.ARPA). It runs on NOS 1 and 2 and we have been using it for quite a while now. Jim Knutson ARPA: knutson@ut-ngp UUCP: {ihnp4,seismo,kpno,ctvax}!ut-sally!ut-ngp!knutson Phone: (512) 471-3241

[] The newest version of Kermit (v2.27) for the IBM-PC and MS-DOS has a "logging" option that allows the PC to record the session without using the file transfer protocol, added for systems that don't yet have Kermit. It allows you to use the (excellent) terminal emulation that Kermit provides. If you can get it onto your display screen, you can capture it (and monitor for noise bursts as it comes in).

The CDC HAS kermit! Write to the guys at Columbia Univers. For correct address see fa.info-kermit If !kermit then I wrote a bunch of (unix) software in the past for a punchroom with 6 typists. I did not use any protocol I wrote a simple program that would logon to the cyber and send it twice and compare the result Just parse the result from the cyber. COMMAND- good compare @ it is okay COMMAND- bad compare @ try all over again people were quite happy with it and their production was quite a lot of data per day.
