I recently bought a Leading Edge PC and I am extremely happy with it. It runs all my IBM software (dBase III, Sidekick, Turbo Pascal, PC-Write, PFS-Proof, Norton Utilities) and does so at 1.5 times faster than an IBM PC. This measurement was made using the SI program from the Version 3.0 Norton Utilities. Best of all is the price of the LE PC which was $1300 for a system with 256K, 2 DS/DD drives, serial and parrallel ports, clock with battery backup, MS-DOS, GW-BASIC, Leading Edge Word Processor, a memory expansion board, and green monitor. This price was from Computer Warehouse in Phoenix. I'm especially pleased with the speed. While I was looking around at PC's I was worried that the new generation of 8086 PC would give significant performance improvements, not to mention the improvement given by a AT. However, I'm told that a Compaq Deskpro only rates 1.4 of a PC and costs about twice as much as a Leading Edge, which is rated at 1.5 (such a deal!). So, if you're looking for good performance at a great price, check out Leading Edge. Jon Forrest, UC Santa Barbara ucbvax!ucsbcsl!forrest
