I have a Columbia Portable PC with two floppy drives and 128K of memory. It will run Volkswriter, but it won't run dbase II unless I add more memory. I have had no problem with it at all in running IBM pc software level 2.0 or better that is). The only reasons I would steer you away from the Columbia are 1). The perfect series software that comes with it is miserable to use. 2). They were slow to release MS-DOS v.2.0, and may have similar problems in the future. 3). Other manufacturers of IBM clones are less pricey. (It's hard to count the perfect software as a valuable part of the deal. It really sucks.

According to the current issue of DTACK GROUNDED, that should be the least of their problems. "Columbia Data Products... just reported a loss of $28.6 million on sales of $0.39 million in its most recent fiscal quarter." How long do you suppose a company will last that takes in less than half a million while spending 29 million? -- Doug Pardee -- Terak Corp. -- !{hao,ihnp4,decvax}!noao!terak!doug
