[net.micro.pc] Backing up Winchesters

I keep worrying about how easily I could lose 10 MB of data from my hard disk,
and I must say that 360 KB floppies don't seem a perfect solution to the backup
problem. I am beginning to see ads for tape streamers for prices of $500 to
$900 (plus enclosure with power supply if needed). There also was some talk,
a long time ago, about interfacing to video recorders, but I haven't seen an ad
or anything for at least a year.

Is there anyone out there who has experience or knowledge about those items?
Do VCR interfaces still live? Are they practical? Are the $500 streamers
good or junk? Do they come with S/W? This would mean device drivers or,
if they act like floppies, patches to enable DOS to use their full capacity.
Are there any questions I didn't ask that I should have?
