I had the opportunity to see the Firm last evening, and felt
the urge to write this 'review'.

Now, I am not a Firm fan, nor was I ever deeply into Zeppelin or
Bad Co., but with the opportunity to see Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page
performing together, I figgured that this combination would work pretty
well. In short, it did. Marvelously well.
I didn't really know what to expect, since they only have one album out
so far, and I figured that the concert would be short, full of covers of
other's songs, or both. I was wrong. Interestingly enough, they only did
(I believe) two covers (That Lovin' Feeling, and Foghat's Just Wanna Make
Love to You). They did, however, put on a really well done show, which
lasted two hours, fifteen minutes with a two minute break before the encores.
(There were two encores). Everybody got a chance to show what they could do,
Paul doing a nice piano piece with GREAT laser effects, and the drummer &
base player doing their own modest solos. The treat of the show, by all
means, was Jimmy's solo. To say the least, the man is inspirational. He
did amazing things with that guitar, including playing it with a double
bass bow (listen to the solo from Whole Lotta Love in The Song Remains the
Same). The music, combined with the lighting and inevitable fog effects,
made for a thoroughly enjoyable 15 minute solo - I was enraptured (at the
risk of sounding too flowery).
All in all, it was one of the best concerts I've been to from an all-
around standpoint. I probably would have had an even better time if I had
known more than the 5 or 6 songs that I did, but the show was fun for me
nonetheless. If you liked Led Zeppelin and Bad Company (ahh, high school
days!), then you'll like this group. They seem to take the best from both
groups, and meld it together successfully. Go ahead, spend the $15 - it's
worth it!
