[] It was my understanding from various publications that IBM has begun shipping Xenix for the AT. However, none of the local computer stores seem to know much of anything about it. (Actually, they don't seem to know much about anything, but even those who knew what Xenix was don't know when to expect it). So, I have two questions: (1) Is Xenix available, and, if so, where? (2) Are there any other machines out there, in the < $10K range, that will provide the same functionality as the AT under Xenix? What I am after is at least a full 16 bit architecture, >20MB of hard disk space, some reasonable form of UNIX, and preferably some high resolution (at least 512 X 512) graphics. Please respond by mail, and I will summarize to this newsgroup. Many thanks. -- -- Jonathan Corbet National Center for Atmospheric Research, Field Observing Facility {seismo|hplabs}!hao!boulder!jon (Thanks to CU CS department)

IBM is shipping XENIX. They began shipment on January 4th: some of the dealers are unaware of this because they will not have received a demo copy of the product, merely information that it is now available. You can order it by quoting the following part numbers: XENIX Operating System #6024207 XENIX S/w Development System #6024209 XENIX Text Processing System #6024208 If you are handled by an IBM account executive directly then they will be receiving notification of the availability within a few days. The dealers are always notified in advance, apparently. Any problems, please mail me directly. Adrian King XENIX Product Manager Microsoft Corporation ...!decvax!microsoft!adriank
