These thoughts are prompted after reading the distressing article on the net by the AT owner in NH with considerable hard disk problems. I, and my friends in Honolulu who have purchased ATs, followed this strategy: Buy the basic AT and add a hard disk. There are now several third party hard disk makers with AT compatible (or even faster) hard disks, notably 1-2 Interface of Canoga Park, CA (I, however, have never dealt with them) who make AT drives from 21 to 117 Mb; CMI drives (are sold to both IBM (who relabels them as IBM) and to Data Technology; and Mountain.
