[net.micro.pc] AT Advice - New Buyers

eidetic@islenet.UUCP (George E. Darby) (02/26/85)

These thoughts are prompted after reading the distressing article
on the net by the AT owner in NH with considerable hard
disk problems. I, and my friends in Honolulu who have
purchased ATs, followed this strategy:

Buy the basic AT and add a hard disk. There are now several
third party hard disk makers with AT compatible (or even
faster) hard disks, notably 1-2 Interface of Canoga Park, CA
(I, however, have never dealt with them) who make AT drives
from 21 to 117 Mb; CMI drives (are sold to both IBM (who relabels
them as IBM) and to Data Technology; and Mountain.

IBM will get the message.
