I am having difficulty using the super/subscript capabilities of my word-processing package (EasyWriter II), and I believe the problem is really with my C.ITOH Prowriter printer. After fairly exhaustive experimentation, I find no way to make it perform a linefeed unless it also performs a carriage return. My question: is this an inherent printer limitation, or is there some way to get around this? Thanks in advance. Gary J. Blair blair@lll-crg.arpa (415) 422-6675

concerning Prowriter superscript problem: It's not your printer -- mine works fine for super- and subscripts under WordStar. I suspect you've got a DIP switch set wrong, probably the auto line feed switch. I don't know if easywriter is smart enough to cope with a printer set up for half line feeds, but if so you can make the Prowriter work this way by sending it an escape sequence to change the carriage advance increment and then doing *two* linefeeds after each <cr> except when super- or subscripting.
