[net.micro.pc] PCjr Expansion Boards

rathman@hou2g.UUCP (P.RATHMAN) (03/15/85)

I have a PCjr (128K, one drive) and am planning to buy an expansion board
for extra memory and a parallel printer port. I would appreciate hearing
comments from anyone familiar with the products offered by Legacy, Tecmar,
Quadram, Impulse, IBM (requires two boards), etc. I am especially interested
in any compatibility problems encountered with the non-IBM products and the
usefulness of the software that is included.

Tecmar's "Jr. Captain" gives you a parallel port, clock/calendar and
128K of additional memory, which can be increased to 640K by either
purchasing a second board ("Jr. Cadet") or replacing the 64K chips
in the Captain with 256K chips and changing a jumper. It is quite
a good deal. I've had no problems whatsoever with my board.
