After using a PC AT at work I have become even more unhappy with the performance of my home PC. To rectify some of its short commings I am interested in buying some form of speedup hardware. In particular I am interested in the performance of the "ORCHID PC turbo 186". Any help with the following questions would be greatly appreciated: 1) Recommendations on methods of speeding up the PC. e.g. Add on 186 or 286 boards, New mother-boards capable of running 8088-2 (7 meg) processor and supporting parts. 2) If you are recommending an add on board, will it work with a PC look alike? (in particular a FARADAY 6400, this board was packaged in numerous PC clones.) 3) S/W compatibility? I am planning on buying something the first part of April so any help would be greatly appreciated. Please do not recommend that I purchase an AT as the major reason for this method of speeding up my PC is $$$ and even with discounts the AT is out of reach for another year or so.
