Recently there has been some interest in a Curses for the IBM-PC.
I posted a short note a week ago saying that we had made one and
would turn it into a product if there was interest. There was, so
we have. What follows is a commercial announcement which will not
be duplicated. If you object to people making money for writing code,
be careful to read no further.
------------
The Looking Glass Software Curses Compatible Windowing Package
This package is designed for use by people moving Unix(TM) based
applications that use the Curses library over to IBM-PCs
It features:
Source code included!
BSD compatibility (except for scanw & wscanw)
Automatic detection of display type
Very fast, flicker-free output to the IBM colour/graphics display card.
An entire screen can be output in unnoticeable time!
System V Curses extensions, including multiple character attributes
(Bold, Blink, Underline, Reverse Video) and Colour.
System V Curses support for special keys on the keyboard
Can be compiled in either large or small models - all new code, no
Unix code is included.
Extension of "box" to use IBM-PC box drawing characters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The package is currently written with the Mark Williams C compiler, but
all routines except for the DOS interrupts, high speed screen output
and wprintw code should be portable to any compiler. The rest is easy
to move, and if you choose the support package, LGS will help you move
it. We will move it to the C-Ware "DeSmet" compiler if there is demand.
Price: With full support $500 (U.S. funds)
With no support $200
Object code only $75
Full support is a licence for your entire group or small company, and
includes the right to include the compiled object code in your own
commercial applications. It also means our help in adapting the package
to other compilers and your special needs, and free updates and bug
fixes for 2 years.
The package comes with documentation describing the installation
procedure and extensions. You are expected to know the Curses
library from your Unix documentation. Delivery can be by uucp or
MS-DOS floppy, except object code which can only be sent by floppy.
