[net.micro.pc] FiXT ROM chip and Davong hard disks

ncahec@ecsvax.UUCP (Jim Gogan) (04/09/85)

Does anyone have any experience with a ROM chip called FiXT,
manufactured by Golden Bow Systems? It is supposed to allow hard-disk
boot capability for non-IBM hard disk drives. I am particularly
interested in comments from anyone who is using this product with a
Davong 5 Meg external hard disk.
Specifically, does it work? What exactly does it do? To what
extent will software think that it is being installed on an XT?
Can I use DOS 2.x commands without modifications?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
