[net.micro.pc] Seeking good mail order house

laj@wnuxb.UUCP (JOHNSON) (04/16/85)

I'm shopping around for the AST Megapak board. I bought
the original Megaplus from Qubie. However, for some reason
Qubie is no longer stocking AST boards. Their prices used
to be very reasonable. There must have been some sort of falling
out between AST and Qubie. Anyway, I'm now looking for a new
supplier of AST boards at reasonable prices. The larger mail
order houses tend to inflate the price to cover their overhead
and advertising in the national rags. I'm very satisfied with
the quality of AST boards and am perfectly willing to do business
with a smaller outfit. I'm interested in any recommendations
people have on some of these mail order houses. Have you had
good experiences ? Are there reasonable prices to be had ?

I have ordered from them 3 times over the past two years. Each
time their price was <= any other quotes I could find, they
shipped the next day, and they don't charge for surface shipping
or add a credit card surcharge. My most recent order was this
week for a 20M Microscience hard disk. Ordered Monday, received
Thursday (they added $6.50 for UPS 2nd day air). The price they
first quoted was $100 over 2 other vendors I had called but they
matched ($695) when confronted with the news. They have always
given me the impression that they are small, eager to please,
and honest.

I have no association with CompuAdd other than as a satisfied
customer.
