I have an XT. As an experiment, I booted dos 3.1 from floppy. I then used 'sys' to transfer dos to the hard disk. 3.1 would boot from the disk. Then I tried booting 2.0 from floppy. Again I used 'sys' to transfer 2.0 to the hard disk. Now I can't boot from the hard disk. If I transfer 3.1 over, I can boot from the hard disk. The question is: why, after installing dos 3.1, is it impossible to install 2.0 so as to boot from it? (I realize I can get back to 2.0 by reformating the disk, but I would rather not). If you didn't that would make it not work. If you did, you got me. I haven't tried that experiment yet, and don't plan to (I don't want to go back to any version of 2.xx) -- |------------| | |-------| o| JVC HRD725U Mr. Video | | | o| |--------------| | | | | | |----| o o o | | |-------| O| |--------------| |------------| VHS Hi-Fi (the only way to go) ({!seismo,!ihnp4}!uwvax!astroatc!nicmad!brown)
