[net.micro.pc] Wanted - VT-100 emulator

gms@spuxll.UUCP (George M. Sokolowsky) (07/12/85)

---------------------------------------------------------
I am in search of a vt-100 emulator for my IBM-PC which
is compatable with 5.2 UNIX and vi editor and also a
TSX+ FST full screen editor for a DEC tall-box. I hope
to acquire something with up/download capabilities and
possible documentation. I'm also interested in some good
PC BB's to broaden my horizons !!

I can recommend PC/InterComm from Mark of the Unicorn for an IBM PC
VT100 emulator. I use it here on an IBM PC in lieu of a VT100 type
terminal on Berkeley 4.2 UNIX. We run EMACS as well, which seems to
be a pretty demanding test of a terminal or terminal emulator.
PC/InterComm supports speeds up to 19.2 Kbaud, but unless the VAX
is pretty loaded up, EMACS will send control sequences so fast that
PC/InterComm can't quite keep up. (It's possible this problem
is really the serial port's problem.) It works perfectly at 9600
baud --- our CIT-101 terminals won't.
