My fiancee has a pcjr with a Tecmar jrCaptain board. The jrCaptain has 512K of ram so she has a total of 640K in her system Tecmar includes a program called CONPCJR.EXE that allows the jr to utilize the expanded memory. Below is an excerpt from the jrCaptain installation manual: "Software Configuration Recognition of Expanded Memory When the IBM PCjr is running MS-DOS, Dos will not automatically recognize more than 128K bytes of memory. The problem exists because the IBM PCjr uses up to the last 32K bytes of the first 128K bytes of memory for the video screen buffer. Additional memory is placed after the first 128K bytes and therefore, after the video screen buffer. Alas, the screen buffer proves too hard a problem to overcome and the additional memory is left abandoned and unused (A memory map is shown) A program has been developed to allow the additional memory to be used...." it goes on to say that CONPCJR must be the first line in the autoexec.bat file. The manufacturer of your friends card should have provided a similar program. Good luck P.S. I would like to add that I'm not at all impressed with Tecmar. Elaine's jrCaptain was purchased with 128K (2 banks of 64K rams). The documentation stated that the 64K chips could be replaced with 256K chips if a jumper were removed. The 256K chips were ordered and when they arrived I was much surprised to find the 64K chips soldered instead of being socketed as the documentation indicated. I called Tecmar, they told me that the documentation I had was obsolete, you could no longer replace the 64K chips with 256K chips. However, they offered to replace her board with one with sockets but they would need to find out if any were immediatly available and get back to me. It took 10 (ten) LONG DISTANCE telephone calls, with much time on hold, to get everything straightened out. When the board arrived the doccumentation said to remove jumper 4. There was no jumper marked 4, I guessed and got it right. All seems to be working fine but I expect more from a company than I got from Tecmar. Their technical support phone lines were mostly busy, you could then leave a message but they didn't respond promptly (i.e. the same day) unless I got nasty and their documentation was "obsolete" and incorrect. They could have done much better. Allen Turner
