[net.micro.pc] K-EDIT ??

uhrik@uiucdcsb.Uiuc.ARPA (07/26/85)

Does anyone know where I can get a manual for an
editor called K-EDIT which is modelled after
X-EDIT on a big computer??

Does anyone know who might know??

	KEDIT is available from:
		Mansfield Software Group
		PO Box 532
		Storrs, CT 06268
		(203) 429-8402

My office recently purchased their demo disk from them, through
a local dealer. If you get it straight from them, it'll cost you $10,
perhaps plus some small shipping & handling charges. Ours came with a
copy of the manual, and the only thing which didn't work was the file
save/retrieve, allowing you to work with it quite a bit, but not to save
the text.
I have nothing to do with Mansfield Software Group.

IBM have what they call IBM Professional Editor, which is XEDIT, more or less.
Try finding that manual. Also, try contacting an IBM branch office, or something like that; they might give you a XEDIT manual free. XEDIT is the editor that
works under VM/CMS on 'big' IBMs, (series 370, if any are still left, 43xx, 30xx and so on).

Kedit *is* Xedit for the IBM PC.
While the PE program is sort of like XEDIT in some ways
it requires the use of its own manual.
Kedit on the other hand requires that you read a one page
list of differences between K and Xedit.
Anyone who is used to Xedit on an IBM mainframe can run
Kedit without the manual.
To say that Kedit does everything that Xedit does would be
selling Kedit short. Along with being 100 per cent compatable
it provides extra features not available on a 3278 type screen.
Anyone who uses Xedit on a regular basis on a mainframe
will find Kedit an indispensable tool on his/her pc.
It's just to bad that IBM couldn't provide these tools.
Kedit can be purchased from:
Mansfield Software Group
PO Box 532
Storrs, Ct 06268
I am not affiliated with the above in any way
other than being a satisfied customer.
