I need to ask a question for a friend. Their office routinely performs radiation and contamination surveys. Dbase III is currently used to generate the documentation needed by the survey technician to perform surveys. The room maps required for the surveys are currently hand drawn to scale showing a general room outline. Equipment such as round radioactive waste drums, refrigerators, centrifuges, workbenches, sks are shown in their applicable locations and labeled. Over time, maps are required to be redrawn as furnishings are moved or added. They are looking for a system that will provide for the initial d of the maps, reproduce the maps at the time needed for the survey, and provide for alternations as the room layouts change. The maps are to be attached to the completed survey form (8-1/2 X 11) mentioned above. Equipment can be preestablished in size, shape (circle, square, rectangle, etc), and lable. ALso, it would be desirable if the maps could be stored with or accessed with the research investigators dBase III data field (MEMO field). Current hardware includes a Sperry PC with a 10 Megabyte hard disk and a Sperry (Qume) printer. Does anyone know if dBase III can handle this? What other software might be used?
