[net.micro.pc] F77 for PC-AT

dorettas@tekecs.UUCP (Doretta Schrock) (08/29/85)

The response to my posting looking for a large model,
full F77 implementation with support for overlays was
underwhelming to say the least. I'm really surprised.
Considering the apparant attractiveness of the PC-AT
with the floating point chip for doing scientific type
applications and the general popularity of the machine,
does the lack of serious FORTRAN compilers on the
market for the AT mean that FORTRAN is really *beginning*
to die? Take this as a rhetorical question, this group
is not the right place for a discussion of that topic.
Anyway, two people recommended I check out F77L from

          Lahey Computer Systems
          31244 Palos Verdes West
          Suite 243
          Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90274
          (213) 541-1200

Neither of those people had used F77L for the AT but highly
recommended the company. I have a call into them for information.
If anyone is interested in the results, send me mail.

Thanks to those who responded.
