We have been using Sysgen Image external tape units for several months. The hardware has given no trouble, and the software is the most flexible I've seen. The drive is NOT accessible as a floppy, so you must use the supplied software, but the speed is good. The tape looks like an audio cassette until you look closer. Good manual (66 pages). Installation, specs, usage, examples, error messages, glossary, P.M. Highlights of the software: - Full disk image (real fast) or file-by-file (can be restored to different disk hardware). - All commands and options available from either menu or command line. - Overwrite or append to the tape. A backup operation creates a new numbered "FileSet" on the tape, containing the specified DOS files. - Option to attach a comment to a new FileSet on the tape. - Specify files by name, modified bit, range of dates and/or times. - Multiple file specs per command (praise be), e.g. "*.com *.exe *.bat". - Option to include subdirectories. - Restore/List all FileSets, or only a range of FileSets. - List tape contents using criteria above, or list just FileSet labels. I have no connection with Sysgen except as a casual user. My opinions are just my opinions. -- George Snyder -- Intermetrics Inc. -- inmet!gjs --
