I have a Compaq Desk-Pro with two floppies and 640K. I also have a question. I have seen ads for 5 (10, 20) mega byte ram of memory for this (and other IBM clones). As I understand it, DOS can't use more than 640K in active memory. (I realize that I'm not being precise, sorry) But, the 5 (10, 20) mega byte can be used for a ran drive or print buffer. So, I could conceivably buy a big ram, and set up a very large ran drive, as well as a very large print buffer, and still have my 640K of "active" memory. Is this correct? How does the computer know that the ram drive is that big? I don't believe that I could create a ramdrive bigger than 360K with what I have now (Superdrive). Does anyone have any recommendations as to boards or companies to buy to do this? Thanks Boy does this newsgroup have an incredible diversity of levels.
