[net.micro.pc] IBM PC FORTRAN's

stever@tektronix.UUCP (Steven D. Rogers) (09/23/85)

you ought to check out F77L by Lahey Computer Systems
                               31244 Palos Verdes West
                               Suite 243
                               Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90274
                               (213) 541-1200

they claim to have been serving the FORTRAN community since l969,
which is certainly more than Microsoft can say!

F77L is a full implementation of the F77 standard and beats
the IBM Professional FORTRAN; I don't know whether it has
all you want, but if they keep being so responsive to my
demands for features that I need in a FORTRAN compiler
I may have to finally buy it!

p.s. i own Microsoft FORTRAN 3.3

p.p.s. i am working on some benchmarks dealing with
the difference in handling small and large arrays for
       MS 3.3 and Lahey

p.p.p.s. below are some benchmark times for a 1700 line
          program
