I am using an old version of Word Perfect, about 3.0 or 3.1. I need to export plain ASCII files. It seems to work if the Word Perfect document does not have footnotes, but if it has footnotes, it just ignores them. Am I doing something wrong? Or does anyone have a utility or know of a utility to do the conversion? I don't really care what the text ends up looking like, just so that it is all present, with no special characters. Thanks in advance.

If you print to a disk files using the plain or print-to-disk printer driver, all of your text, including the footnotes, will be in that file. Unfortunately, you will have CR/LFs at the end of each line, but such is life.
