I have a large FORTRAN program that I am porting to the IBM-PC. I am using Lahey's F77L FORTRAN compiler and the Lattice C compiler. I currently have Phoenix Computer Products' Plink86 Plus. I am very happy with the development environment provided by both the compilers and the linker except for one thing. The linker does not allow you to link a routine into more than one overlay. That wouldn't be any problem if I were starting from scratch but I am constrained by the current structure of the existing program. All the library routines called by overlays get put in the root and then the program is too big to execute. All of the solutions that seem reasonable within the constraints of Plink86, like overlaying more of the root or changing the structure of the program , are in some way unsatisfactory. Are there other overlay linkers out there besides Plink86 that might work for me? Send mail and I will post a summary of responses.
