The following organizations either have Navy DIF capabilities now
or will shortly:
1. AB Dick: waiting to test in DONOACS lab.
2. AT&T: will support DIF over entire product line, testing finished for
3B2 using Syntactics CrystalWriter package.
3. CCI: DIF system for Office-Power in beta testing.
4. CPT: will support DIF over entire product line, testing finished for
Pheonix Jr.
5. Data General: will support DIF over entire product line, waiting to
test software for MV 4000 in lab.
6. DataPoint: entire product line will have DIF, testing completed for
VistaWord system.
7. DEC: will support DIF on several products, testing finished for WPS.
8. Four-Phase/Motorola: testing completed for series 6000 using Q1,
Quadratron will also sell Q1 DIF software for other machines.
9. Grid Systems: will use IMS DIF software for WordPerfect.
10. Hewlett Packard: 100% support, testing finished for 6000 series.
11. Honeywell: will support on DPS 6 product line.
12. IBM: 100% support, testing finished for Display Write I.
13. Multimate: DIF products in development.
14. NBI: 100% support, testing completed for Series 64.
15. NCR: 100% support, testing finished for Worksaver.
16. Sperry: 100% support, testing finished for 1100 products & PC.
17. SDC: working on DIF products.
18. SDC: will support DIF with (as yet unspecified) PC products.
19. VSC (Va. Systems): presently marketing IMS Fortune DIF system.
20. Wang: 100% support, waiting to test in lab.
21. Xerox: 100% support, DIF for 8010 complete, DIF for 6085 in beta
test, DIF for 860 in beta test.
There is also a list of about 50 other organizations which are interested
in the DIF for one reason or another, in many cases, surprisingly, for reasons
which do not involve federal contracts. The DIF seems destined to outgrow its
humble origins with the Navy and, by rights, deserves to be THE standard of
document interchange in the mini-micro world.
