I recently purchased an IBM AT with a Priam 59.8 meg hard disk, and have been having a devil of a time trying to get it to work properly. The problem is this: I am trying to install both MS-DOS and SCO Xenix System V on it. If I use the Priam edisk program (an fdisk replacement), the drive works fine for MS-DOS, but Xenix will not install properly. If I try to use IBM's fdisk, Xenix installs fine, but MS-DOS returns an 'invalid drive specification' error whenever I try to read or format the DOS partition. Both SCO and Priam agree that I need to use IBMs fdisk (edisk is apparently writes a nonstandard boot block that is incompatible with Xenix), but neither can tell me what I have to do to get MS-DOS 3.1 to recognize the drive. I hope someone on the net is familiar with this problem and can suggest a solution. Please respond by mail. Thank you Ben Broder ..ihnp4!princeton!moncol!ben ..vax135!petsd!moncol!ben
