phil@sagan.UUCP (Phil Glatz) (01/23/86)
I've been having a heck of a time booting from my AT (1 year old, stock 20MB
dri, DOS 3.1). Every so often, it gives me a message that it can't boot from
the winchester (not a boot disk). The only way I can be able to reboot is by
doing a format, and then marking the bad tracks with DFIXER. If I compare the
boot track data with another AT, I can find no difference.
My only guess is that I do have SuperKey and SideKick resident at times, and that they might be doing something crazy with the ES register.
If anyone could give me a clue, it would be most appreciated --- or if I even
knew where to look in the IBM manuals I would be happy. Thanks
