From: Adolfo Di-Mare <dimare@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA> Volitron also offers a p-code Modula-2 compiler, and it has been reviewed by Jerry Pournelle on Byte. I have also heard that Turbo Modula-2 is comming up by the end of the year (hopefully Very-Cheap-That's-Right!), but don't trust me on this rumor... Adolfo ///

I am considering using modula-2 on IBM PC. Following companies market
modula-2 development packages (compiler,linker,editor,debugger,utility
modules,...) :
Logitech 415/365-9852
volition 619/481-2286
interface technologies 713/523-8422
modula corp 800-545-4842
I would like to know what do these packages really offer, and your
experience and opinions about the one's you have used.
Please consider the following points :
conformity to wirth's book
concurrency/coroutines - (yes/no, how)
restrictions on code/data size
overlay facility
ROMability
8087 support
debugger
utility module/library (what do they contain -
graphic/screen io, file io etc
system interface, linkage to assembler code...)
manual - how good is it?
protected/nonprotected/source availability
price
Are there any other commericial/public domain modula packages?
(any rumors from borland?)
responses => automatic summary posting.
Thanks in advance.
