The DOS 3.0 manual explains lots of options and parameters, but
I'm not sure what I should set them to. For instance:
-- How many BUFFERS should I have? I have an AT with 640K and
the 20 Meg harddisk, so my initial feeling is to set it to the
maximum of 99. But, the manual says this might actually slow
things down.
What is a good setting for BUFFERS?
-- Should BREAK be ON or OFF?
I think I want to be able to stop runaway programs, but not
if it makes the machine much slower.
ALSO
-- The March 11 (Feb. 11) PC Mag. mentions that one can easily
speed-up an AT's Key-Repeat without a special program.
Does any one know how to make this speed-up?
Thanks for any help or discussion,
