[net.micro.pc] EPROM burner card for PClones?

colin@vu-vlsi.UUCP (Colin Kelley) (02/09/86)

I'm looking for an EPROM burner, but I can't spend more than $200. Apparat
has been selling an expansion card 'Prom Blaster' for Apples for many years;
it cost around $150 several years ago. I just noticed an Apple PROM card
advertised in the back of the February Byte for $59! Anyone know about such
a beast for PClones? I can't imagine that there's some special feature of
the Apple bus the isn't available on the PC bus! :-) Ideally, such a card
would support the 27xxx EPROMs and would have a ribbon cable with a Zero
Insertion Force socket on the end of so I wouldn't have to open up my PC...

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Apparat does indeed make a "Blaster" for the PC. Cost is around
$150. Call them as they sell direct to the consumer. No outboard
ZIF socket, though..

I have used an Apple version for >5 years with no problems. I even
sold the spares I had bought for fail-safe..
