I am interested in finding out if there are public domain, or shareware versions of the following MSdos utilities available, and if so, where they can be obtained: ansi.sys, ramdisk.sys, serprn.sys diskcomp, mode, tree, memtest, dircomp, graphics disk park, initialise and format utilities. Please reply by email. I will precis to the net or respond personally if there are other interested parties. Ray Dunn. ..philabs!micomvax!othervax!ray

I use fansi console as a replacement for ansi.sys. It provides many things including:- increased type ahead buffer - faster screen writes - screen blanking or saving to avoid screen burn in - scroll back and scroll lock I got fansi console from a bulletin board at (812)824-7990. You may want to try to find it on a bulletin board near you. It comes in two files: fconsole.arc (programs) and fcondoc.arc (documentation). The files are both larger than 100K! A disadvantage is that you don't get full documentation with that (you have to send the program author $50.00 to get the full documentation). I was able to use it without the full documeatation (but I plan to send him the $50.00 if I continue to use the program). I have not used it, but there is a ram disk program called membrain that has gotten some good reviews. When you compile a summary of these responses, please post it to the net or send it to me directly. Vern Bradner (inhp4!mhuxi!v1b)
