I am in need of some help configuring Micropro's Wordstar version 3.31 for the IBM PC. Here is my situation: We have a number of pc's networked to a DEC VAX computer. The networking software is DECnet-DOS which allows you to hook a bunch of pc's to a DEC computer using async. communication lines as the medium. One of the features of this network is having a common network printer. The printer is hanging off of the VAX in reality, but when each pc boots up, it installs a network printer device called NPRN: What I would like to do is to have each pc set up such that when the user wants to print a file from Wordstar, that the file will go to this device (nprn:) instead of the normal pc print device (LPT1: ??). It seems to me that it could be done two different ways. The first way would envolve changing pc/dos so that requests for LPT1: are mapped to NPR1:. The closest thing I have seen in dos to do this is the mode command whereby you can assign a serial device to be a printer device, however it wont let you assign anything else but COM1 or COM2. The other way that it might be handled is to actually modify the Wordstar image so that wordstar sends printer output to NPRN. If anyone out there in netland has any clues on how to accomplish this, I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mark Cooperstein NCSU School of Vet. Medicine Raleigh NC
